Holly Smith, a resident of Greenway Trails and an HOA board member, addressed the council during citizen comments to ask that facilities funded by the 2026 GO bond Proposition C — specifically a pickleball facility and a multipurpose recreation facility — be located in the southern portion of Grand Prairie. She cited recent residential growth in Greenway Trails, Lake Viewpoint, Goodland and the Lakesong development and said neighborhoods in the south currently have limited access to amenities.
Smith thanked voters for passing the 2026 bonds and said locating facilities in the south would serve thousands of new families. The mayor clarified that the planned multipurpose building is intended primarily for meeting rooms and nonrecreational uses, not a full-service fitness center, and encouraged continued citizen engagement as planning proceeds.
