Senate Bill 2,155 (sponsor Senator Watson) would establish the Tennessee Commission for Insurance Review to hear complaints and conduct informal hearings related to insurance enforcement and policy disputes. Committee members asked whether the measure left room for negotiation between providers and payers and sought clarity on appeals and dispute resolution; the sponsor said the measure is meant as an appellate panel for providers who feel claims were mis-coded or down-coded by insurers. The subcommittee voted to recommend the bill be sent to Commerce and Labor with a positive recommendation; the clerk recorded 6 ayes and two present not voting.
