Facilities report: roofing done at Fairview, greenhouse nearing finish; bee infestation and many AC work orders remain

Mister Shirley, who presented the facilities update, said July was one of the department’s busiest months with roughly 120 work orders and multiple special projects. He said phase 1 of a roofing job at Fairview is complete, painting projects were finished at several campuses, and countertop and gym improvements were underway.
Shirley said a bee infestation occupied about half of the new gym at Marthaville and crews were removing the hives and replacing some damaged sheetrock and boards. He also said the greenhouse project is functionally complete but the Atmos meter needs reinstallation and an electrical feed must be rerun before the space can be used safely.
Shirley asked the board for a list of required electrical plugs and timing equipment for track meets so his team can price the work and, if necessary, put it in the next budget. He said the department has been flooded with AC and kitchen-equipment work orders as school staff return and is prioritizing urgent repairs.
