Staff presented Policy 8-04, a revision to the district’s operation of school nutrition services, and tied the change to a state statutory amendment (transcript citation: General Statute 115C-264) that removes alternate-meal language. “Public school units must offer the same meal selection to all students regardless of pay status including unpaid debt,” staff said, explaining the draft removes the alternate-meal provision and updates the payment platform.
Staff said the proposed edits have been reviewed with internal stakeholders and that the district is prepared to implement the change. The committee had no questions and was asked to consider forwarding the revision as part of the fast-track package to the full board.
