Board pursues FEMA stormwater planning, Project Accelerator assistance and backup bridge grants

The board discussed multiple grant tracks to advance stormwater planning and the town bridge project. Mayor explained a FEMA hazard-mitigation notice of interest was submitted; the state told staff Green Mountain Falls is already part of the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management plan and therefore not eligible for a separate hazard-mitigation plan, but is eligible for BRIC-style stormwater master plan funding. Trustees authorized continued pursuit of BRIC/BRIC-like funding and asked staff to return with details before obligating town funds.
Trustees also voted to pursue WaterNow's Project Accelerator (up to 250 hours of technical assistance) to produce a comprehensive stormwater master plan and to apply for a rural and tribal assistance grant (opening March 4) as a backup for bridge engineering in case a larger PROTECT grant is not awarded. Town Manager Caleb Patterson recommended keeping multiple grant avenues open to reduce the risk that engineering costs would jeopardize larger construction funding.
