The Claymont City Board of Education on April 13 approved the district’s student instructional times for the 2026–27 school year and a change to this year’s calendar to end students’ school earlier. After a discussion that included Transportation and Cafeteria Supervisor Eric Henry about bus scheduling and potential impacts on after‑school activities, the board approved the following daily schedules for 2026–27: High School 7:40–2:40, Middle School 7:50–2:50, Elementary 8:05–3:05 and Primary 8:15–3:15.
The instructional-time change had been pulled from the consent slate for separate consideration; Mrs. Host moved the item and Ms. Campbell seconded. On roll call the motion carried with the four board members present voting in favor. The board also approved a separate calendar revision to end the 2025–26 student year on May 22, 2026 (three days earlier than previously scheduled); that change likewise passed on a roll call vote of the members present. The district said it will monitor the timing choices and revisit them if bussing or program needs require adjustments.
