Board approves Kaliseum repairs RFPs, Log Lake fee change and gym fee waiver

The Kalkaska County Board directed the Department of Public Works to work with county administration and counsel to develop requests for proposals (RFPs) for repairs at the Kaliseum, including roof repair and heating system work.
The board rescinded an earlier 4% fee increase and instead approved a $2.00 increase to all Log Lake rental fees effective July 1, 2026, except for rentals prepaid by April 16, 2026. Commissioners also approved an action to waive daily gym fees at the Kaliseum on May 2, 2026, to promote National Fitness Day. Commissioner Sieting said DPW should coordinate weekly reviews during contracting and Whiteford confirmed the board would receive updates as RFPs are developed.
