Kalkaska County adopts ballot language to renew animal control and recycling millages

The Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt proposed ballot language for two millage renewals that will appear on the August 2026 ballot.
Commissioner Robert Baldwin moved to approve Resolution 2026-16 adopting the proposed ballot language for the Animal Control millage renewal; the motion carried on a recorded roll call. The board then approved Resolution 2026-17 to adopt proposed ballot language for the Recycle millage renewal. Both votes were recorded 7–0 where noted.
Separately, the board authorized the county clerk to pay up to three individuals $150 per day plus meals, according to policy, to attend a Train-the-Trainer class and perform election inspector training. Chair Kohn Fisher and commissioners said the clerk training supports local election preparedness.
