Public Works staff recommended awarding the River's Edge Park Phase B contract to Schwartz Construction Group, including alternates, at a bid of $926,706. Staff said Phase B will add a challenge course, shelters, pollinator garden, a tree bog, and additional trails; the project budget is approximately $1.2 million with a $600,000 OSLAG (Open Space Land Acquisition and Development) grant contributing to the total. "Phase B includes a challenge course, of course, shelters, pollinated garden, a tree boss, and more of the trail system of this park," staff said when describing the bid package.
Trustees approved the contract award and separately approved purchasing challenge-course equipment from Compman Inc. for $92,957.45 under government pricing so the items arrive as construction begins. Staff said construction is anticipated to start early in 2025 with completion in fall 2025 and that grant match rules and alternate bid choices limit some scope additions.
