Local landlord urges board to OK employment-agency use at Hammel Creek Commons

Neesh Shaw, owner of MPB Shorewood, told the Shorewood Village Board during public comment that the shopping center he manages needs the ability to host an employment-agency use. Shaw said the use approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission would be by appointment only and that tenants support the change.
"We got the consent of all of our tenants…they understand that this is by appointment only," Shaw said, adding that his company has supported tenants through the COVID crisis and would add lease conditions to prevent nuisance activity. Mike Sedrice, chief operating officer of Fullsteam Joliet Staffing, described the firm’s onsite procedures and said the application process is largely online and appointments are limited by four kiosks. Board members said the item will be discussed at the committee-of-the-whole workshop and did not take action during the meeting.
