County Clerk Deborah Hill used the public comment portion of the Finance Committee meeting to emphasize that the accountant's need to access check records stemmed from missing reconciliation reports. "Hill noted that Accountant Hervey would not have accessed the check records as requested by the Board, if the Treasurer had performed the monthly reconciliation and provided the past 15 months of reconciliations reports," the minutes state.
Hill also criticized a remark by the Treasurer's counsel about the county's starting condition. "[Hill] also noted concern with the false statement by Tracey's counsel regarding 'things were a mess' when Tracey started," the minutes record. No response from the Treasurer or counsel is recorded in the meeting minutes.
