County ratifies spring State of Emergency declaration and proclamation of its end

On April 23, the Oconto County Board ratified Resolution R2026-04-01, which formalized a March 14, 2026 State of Emergency declaration for Severe Winter Storm Elsa. The declaration, originally signed March 14 at 6:30 p.m. by County Board Chair Alan (Al) Sleeter via designee Jon Spice (Emergency Management Director), directed the county to employ all available resources and to notify the state and request assistance as appropriate.
The board also ratified Resolution R2026-04-02, a proclamation that the State of Emergency was no longer in effect as of the date of that proclamation. Both measures were adopted by electronic vote as part of the meeting records; the resolutions and the clerk’s certification were entered into the minutes. The county clerk certified the resolutions and the board’s ratification.
