Sen. Bailey’s bill would let Upper Cumberland Airport seek FAA commercial designation

Senator Bailey told the committee that Senate Bill 16-11 would convert the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport Board from an interlocal cooperation arrangement into an airport authorities structure to allow the airport to apply to the Federal Aviation Administration for Section 139 designation. "Basically, they're trying to apply with the FAA as a section 1 39, which would allow them to operate commercial flights in and out of the Upper Cumberland Airport," Bailey said.
With no questions from members, the committee moved and seconded a recommendation on the bill and conducted a roll-call vote. The secretary recorded nine ayes; the committee gave SB 16-11 a positive recommendation and advanced it to the Senate Energy committee for further consideration.
