Kay County Excise Board approves temporary FY2026–27 appropriations, sets exceptions at 100%

The Kay County Excise Board approved Applications for Temporary Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2026–2027 at its June 29 meeting, authorizing temporary appropriations equal to 50% of the previous fiscal year’s final approved budget for most county accounts. The board specifically approved four accounts at 100% of last year’s budget: Insurance/Benefits, Assessor–Visual Inspection, Kay County Clerk Maintenance, and the Kay County Free Fair account.
The motion to approve the temporary appropriations was made by Member Christy Kennedy and seconded by Vice-Chairman Rod Reese; the motion carried with Wilson, Reese and Kennedy voting aye. Board members discussed several proposed changes in department budgets, including a new Employee Salary Schedule and proposed longevity pay for certain deputy and supervisory positions. No final changes to the Estimate of Needs (the full budget) were adopted at this meeting beyond the temporary appropriations action.
