At the Aug. 21 meeting the Shirland School District No. 134 Board of Education voted to accept multiple federal grant awards for the 2024–25 school year. The board approved acceptance of ESSA funds totaling $17,653 (Title I — $5,441; Title II — $2,212; Title IV — $10,000), IDEA Part B consolidated funding totaling $28,667 (IDEA Flow‑Thru — $28,140; IDEA Preschool — $527) and a Rural Educational Achievement Program (REAP) grant of $11,485.
Board members approved each application and acceptance by roll-call votes. The superintendent presented the award amounts and the board recorded the acceptances as formal actions to support programs for general instruction, professional development and special education services in the coming school year.
