Project manager Harman Singh told the commission the Bono Terminal and courtyard restroom designs are finished and 'shelf ready' for construction. The design will increase overall capacity from 34 to 43 stalls and includes 10 gender‑neutral family stalls in the courtyard.
Singh said the airport applied for a competitive Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) grant (about $8.7 million) but was not awarded funds; commissioners pressed staff to redouble efforts to find FAA, state or other grant funding and to consider financing mechanisms within the five‑year CIP. A commissioner later referenced a current forecast of the restroom construction at about $10,000,000 and asked that staff and the city's lobbyist continue to flag shovel‑ready status for discretionary funding opportunities.
Staff said the city maintains a grants-monitoring firm and financial consultant who continuously seek competitive funding and that the airport will present funding options during CIP planning later this year.
