The Grand Prairie Planning & Zoning Commission voted unanimously on June 9 to approve STP2604-007, a site plan for a 22,500-square-foot United Glass manufacturing, warehouse and distribution facility at 1141 Avenue J East in Council District 1. Staff told commissioners the 2.971-acre site is zoned light industrial, meets density and parking requirements and sits roughly 200 feet from a designated 100-year floodplain.
During the public hearing, Walter Nelson, representing the property owner, said the tenant (United Glass) specializes in shower enclosures and mirrors for residential builders and needed to relocate after his lease ended and a building sale. Nelson said his clients own the land and affirmed United Glass has operated in Grand Prairie for many years. Commissioners found the submission straightforward and moved to approve the site plan as recommended by the Development Review Committee.
