Board analysis shows drop in citizen-involved complaints, presenters say

Presenters told the Police Accountability Board that citizen-involved complaints have declined from 41 in mid‑2022 to 15 in the current reporting window, and ACC-reviewed cases fell from 33 in 2022 to 14 so far this year.
Quentin Jones, presenting the board's trending slides, said the county has seen a progressive decline in citizen-involved complaints compared with earlier reporting periods.
"As you can see on the screen, we're talking about analysis of case reviews... this first slide is on citizen involved complaints," Quentin said, and he reported 15 incoming citizen-involved complaints in the current period compared with 41 during July–December 2022. Quentin and other presenters noted the ACC reviewed 33 cases in 2022 and 14 so far this year; Chair said 16 cases were reviewed Jan. 1–Aug. 13 with 12 new cases and six still pending review.
Presenters attributed the decline in part to sheriff's office practices and to policy clarifications; they proposed continued quarterly review and a live trending document to track patterns geographically and by type.
