Shirland School Board hires Ryan Wlodek as superintendent and approves business manager hire; accepts resignation

The Shirland School District No. 134 Board of Education approved multiple personnel actions at a special meeting Oct. 25, 2024, in Stout Hall following an executive session. President Stout called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.; the board entered executive session at 5:32 p.m. and returned to open session at 7:24 p.m.
In open session the board voted by voice to hire Ryan Wlodek as Superintendent/Principal. The motion to approve Wlodek was made by Mrs. Gunnink and seconded by Mr. Bartlett; the minutes record the voice vote as passing. The board also ratified the hire of Lindsey Minkie as Business Manager on a motion by Mr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Bartlett, again passing by voice vote. Finally, the board accepted the resignation of Karly Scarpetta from the Business Manager/Secretary position; that motion was made by Mr. Bartlett and seconded by Mrs. Gunnink and passed by voice vote.
The board cited statutory authority for the executive-session items, referencing review of closed minutes under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21) and personnel matters under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1). The special meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m. after the personnel actions were recorded.
