County Administrator/CFO Patrick Whiteford told the Finance Committee the county responded to an erosion issue at Rugg Pond after an April 5, 2026 site visit by EGLE, Drain Commissioner Phillips, Commissioner Robert Baldwin, Matt Brenner and DPW staff. Whiteford said the county "made contact with Matts Underground to address emergency needs of recommendations by EGLE representative to assist with erosion." He reported the site is "temporarily closed as of 4-5-2026 to address concerns" and that three vendors have been asked to submit quotes for final repairs, with plans to present options at the April regular meeting.
Whiteford also said EGLE's annual inspection had been canceled in 2025 and will be rescheduled, and that the county will review and update the Rugg Pond Emergency Action Plan. Committee members heard that Matts Underground was engaged for immediate stabilization work and that full repair quotes should be available by the April 15 regular meeting.
