City to investigate River Street curb stops and require homeowner to address leaking hydrant

Auditor Maria Kolling told the council she will contact a contractor to locate water lines to determine whether River Street curb stops were tied to a water line run from a hydrant rather than the water main in the street. She will also ask the ND Rural Water drone operator scheduled to be in Gladstone whether the drone can detect if a water line was run from the hydrant.
Separately, the council discussed a leaking frost-free hydrant on River Street. Maria reported the leak is slow after modifications made by 'Jim.' The council directed Maria to notify the homeowner that two weeks have passed since the last update and the homeowner must provide proof of being on a plumber’s schedule at minimum. If the homeowner cannot secure a plumber, the City will hire one and assess the costs to the homeowner.
