Sheffield holds ITEP hearing for sidewalk and lighting project along Railroad/Highway

At the Aug. 12 meeting President Mary Lanham opened a public hearing describing the Village’s Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grant application. The Village seeks sidewalks and lighting along Railroad Street (the Highway) to connect the east side at Adams Street to the west Reed Street and to improve pedestrian access in the 100 block of North Main Street. Lanham said this is the Village’s second application for the same program; the Village previously applied in Fall 2022.
The presentation noted program details: the maximum ITEP award per project is capped at $3 million (2024) and the application deadline is Sept. 30, 2024. The public hearing was closed the same evening and Lanham continued with the monthly meeting; no funding decision was made at the session.
