Joel Koster of Arcon Architectural Firm summarized the proposed Summer 2026 Edison scope, saying it "includes renovations to 23 classrooms not addressed during the 2018 project" to resolve life-safety issues and prevent further deterioration. He told the committee the renovations will align with design standards used at Lincoln Junior High and described classroom upgrades including movable magnetic white boards with storage, updated sinks, and built-in teacher desks.
Koster said some classrooms might be modified, repurposed, or removed in a later long-term plan, but that the interim improvements will extend the useful life of the spaces and support student safety and instruction. The Master Facility Plan still envisions a Madison School expansion and renovation, but Koster said that refinement depends on funding and is not anticipated for 6โ10 years; in the meantime life-safety funds would address critical classroom needs.
