Council declines major North Park repairs but orders bathroom maintenance and roof inspection

Citizens and council members reviewed North Park needs and agreed the basketball, tennis, and sand volleyball areas are not used enough to justify repairs. Maria Kolling said wood chips remain needed but a resurfacing resurfacing project previously considered was unaffordable. City Inspector Mel Zent advised mulch must be special-ordered and suggested contacting Parks & Rec about suppliers.
Council agreed to prioritize painting park bathrooms this year and asked maintenance staff to clean the bathrooms; Bill O’Connor raised roof concerns and asked Jim to inspect the roof. Volunteers historically maintained the volleyball court but council concluded repair funding was not justified at this time.
