Ralston House asks Wheat Ridge for one‑time $44,420 toward Arvada facility renovation

Ralston House, the child advocacy center serving the First Judicial District, explained to councilors on Aug. 3 that it is seeking a one‑time contribution of $44,420 from the city toward a capital campaign to renovate an Arvada facility the nonprofit has been offered by the city of Arvada.
Executive director Tricia Bridal outlined services Ralston House provides to Wheat Ridge Police — forensic interviews, forensic medical exams and victim advocacy — and said the organization has done about 420 interviews for Wheat Ridge in the past 10 years. Bridal described the new Arvada site as a 10,000‑square‑foot space that would include four confidential interview pods, a medical exam pod and a 100‑person training room, and she said the total renovation cost is about $1.3 million.
Bridal said municipal partners across Jefferson County are contributing to the capital campaign and the requested Wheat Ridge amount was calculated by population and catchment area. She said the new facility would improve the center’s trauma‑informed and neuro‑sensitive interview capacity and allow Ralston House to host training for multidisciplinary teams across the state.
Councilors thanked Bridal and discussed the request; staff emphasized the city would evaluate the outside‑agency ask as part of the overall 2027 budget package and return to the council with budget recommendations.
