Sheffield Village Hall repurposing proposal presented to board

President Mary Lanham called on representatives of the Sheffield Village Hall Alliance to present the group's feasibility study for Village Hall. Skip Moore, speaking for the SVHA, said the group hired JLK Architects and proposed repurposing the building as a community and science center focused on agriculture with rotating exhibits, meeting and gathering space and a project-wide emphasis on historic preservation.
Moore asked the board to consider a non-binding resolution indicating alignment with the SVHA vision in the coming months. President Lanham raised concerns about the village's current use of the Village Hall bays and board members said a binding agreement would likely be two to three years away; the board agreed to consult Village Attorney Frost and hoped to have language for review before year-end.
