Council welcomed Dr. Rhonda Mason as Alvin ISD's new superintendent. Dr. Mason introduced members of her leadership team and described priorities for her first 100 days, emphasizing community engagement and a focus on literacy and relationships with families. "Our theme is we see you," Dr. Mason said, noting convocation events and inviting council and residents to contact her with priorities.
During public comment, Mary Anne Atkinson of 7425 Jordan Road invited residents and business owners to register for this year's Citizens/Police Academy (CPA), an eight-week program starting Aug. 18 and running through Oct. 6, held Tuesdays from 6:30–9 p.m.; the application deadline is Aug. 10. "It's open to businesses, staff, anyone who works here, and of course, our residents," Atkinson said. Staff and council thanked the speaker and confirmed logistics.
