Skokie School Board moves into closed session on personnel matter, returns to open session

The School District 69 Board of Education moved into closed session at 5:38 p.m. during its Feb. 3 Committee of the Whole meeting to consider personnel and related legal matters.

“It was moved by Dr. Chao and seconded by Mr. Savage that the Board move into closed session to consider information regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity,” the meeting record states. The motion carried on a roll call vote: Ayes — Freeman, Marsden, Bair, Khabeer, Chao, England, Savage; Nays — none; Absent — none.

The Board returned to open session at 6:08 p.m. following a voice vote that the record attributes to the same mover and seconder. No substantive details of the closed session were disclosed in the public record. The regular meeting convened at 6:12 p.m., and with no further business the Board adjourned at 8:01 p.m. after a unanimous voice vote on an adjournment motion moved by Ms. Lisa Khabeer and seconded by Ms. Madeleine England.
