Alex Bower of Civil Concepts & Development presented a variance request for the People's Savings Bank building at the Jan. 5 meeting, explaining that the ATM lane canopy exceeds the allowable overhang setback on the east side of the building and requesting a 10 1/2-foot variance to allow the canopy to be 9 1/2 feet from the east property line.
Following Bower's presentation, Councilmember Dale Wambold moved to approve the 10 1/2-foot variance request; Councilmember Pease seconded the motion and it passed by a 5-0 vote. The council noted the canopy columns are within the setback requirement and that the variance applies only to the overhang encroachment described in the presentation.
The approval resolves the missed variance from the prior meeting and authorizes the bank to maintain the canopy as described in the application.
