Knights of Gore to perform armored-combat demonstrations at POCO

Marco Weiss said he is part of an armored-combat group called the Knights of Gore and that the troupe will perform at the POCO festival this year.
"We do real armored combat," Weiss said, adding the group will offer an interactive "fight night" element for children with foam (boffer) swords and low-cost bouts: "We just charge, like, $3... first to 5 hits wins." He described the athletic demands of the sport: armor can weigh "anywhere from 80 to a 120 pounds" and performances include short, intense rounds.
Weiss said the group also offers photo opportunities — a large iron throne and "dragon eggs" — and hopes a successful first year will bring them back to the festival next year.
