Shorewood board awards $12,780 contract for water-tower cleaning and inspections

The Shorewood Village Board on Sept. 24 approved a $12,780 proposal with Viking Industrial to perform exterior cleaning and interior inspections of the Black Road water tower and an interior inspection of the Mound Road water tower.
Public works director Noriega described the village's three-year cycle for tower maintenance and the staff recommendation: "So we have a 3 year cycle that we perform the exterior cleaning and interior inspection for each of our water towers ... Our budget includes $13,000 for this work," Noriega said. Staff told the board only two vendors met the timing and scope; Viking Industrial's proposals total $12,780 and the contractor is ready to mobilize within weeks if approved.
A trustee moved to approve the proposal and the board adopted the motion by roll call. The contract authorizes immediate scheduling and inspection work; staff said the Mound Road interior inspection was not done last year because it was not needed, so this inspection will resume the normal rotation.
The board recorded the approval and instructed staff to proceed with vendor mobilization and invoicing.
