Shorewood proclaims Constitution Week; DAR highlights classroom posters

The Shorewood Village Board on Sept. 24 presented a proclamation designating Sept. 17–23, 2024 as Constitution Week and invited local representatives from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to accept the proclamation.
Pauline Herpi, representing the Louis Joliet chapter of the DAR, told the board she and colleague Lynn Friebus bring educational posters to local junior-high schools and libraries to support constitutional instruction. "I'm Pauline Herpi. I'm with the Louis Joliet chapter of DAR," she said, and described artwork and posters the group distributes to schools to help students learn about the Constitution.
The proclamation text, read by the mayor, emphasized the importance of civic education and invited citizens to study the Constitution. The board received the signed proclamation and invited a group photo with members of the DAR.
