Shorewood Public Works outlines traffic signal, water‑main projects and Seil Road bridge delay

Public Works Director Noriel Norega told the committee the village board approved a contract to install a traffic signal at Route 52 and Wystone Drive but that the traffic light equipment is on backorder. Norega also described two major water main reconstruction projects slated for this summer to replace aging mains on Birch, Shady, Maple, Oak and Parkshore; contracts have been awarded and work should begin this summer. He said River Edge Park is about 60% complete and decorative lighting is planned for Seil Road. Regarding the Seil Road bridge, Norega said the project is delayed because the village needs to acquire land from a reluctant resident; the village filed for condemnation in August 2025 and the matter is in litigation, which could take six months to two years before the project can move forward. He added that Shorewood anticipates receiving Lake Michigan water in 2030.
