The Roosevelt City Council on Jan. 20 approved a proposal to allow a short film shoot on Main Street, contingent on staff and legal review. Bart Powaukee presented plans calling for a four-hour block of filming near and within Marion’s that would require a temporary closure of Main Street, security for actors, and space for sets, props and trailers; he said the proposed timeline is in August or September and that Marion’s owner Chad Mortensen has already approved the business’s participation.
Councilman D. Busenbark moved to approve the proposal with the contingency that city staff and the city attorney complete necessary reviews; Councilwoman A. Goodrich seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council’s action authorizes staff to work with the applicant to finalize operational details at least three months ahead of any scheduled shoot, including call times, traffic control and security plans.
