The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to approve the budget for the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference after a brief presentation explaining last year’s shortfall.
“My name is Steven Crump. I’m the executive director of the Tennessee District Attorney's General Conference,” Crump told the committee, explaining that the office "did not bill against our DHS grant, as we should have for indirect costs," which left the conference’s budget "shorter than it should have been." Committee members asked clarifying questions about the reversion and Crump said the group had met with finance staff to reconcile the issue.
After the presentation, Senator Rose moved to approve the budget, the motion was seconded, and the clerk recorded nine ayes. The committee forwarded the budget package to the finance committee for final consideration.
The approval was procedural: members did not ask Crump to request changes to the governor’s budget but recorded the committee’s action to advance the DA conference’s budget request to the next stage.
