The council heard updates on public-safety staffing and personnel achievements. Fire Chief Greg Brett described a new three-phase employee award program and presented the first award to firefighter Sterling Hill for achieving advanced EMT certification; Captain Dennis Moore was promoted to Captain over C Shift.
Police Chief Kevin Digou told the council a recent police academy concluded April 28 (organized by Sgt. Cody Carter) and recruitment continues. Digou reported that Officer Phillips suffered a cardiac event while on duty, received quadruple bypass surgery, and was released home; he asked the community to keep the officer in their thoughts and said, "I can promise you that during this time that no services will be interrupted."
The minutes record the recognition and personnel updates; council members offered thanks and asked for community support for the officer and department.
