Board approves historic marker for Muse House at 1306 North Waddell Street

The McKinney Historic Preservation Advisory Board unanimously approved a city historic marker for the Muse House at 1306 North Waddell Street following a presentation by staff member Reina Allen.
Allen described the property as “the Muse House and the site of the Muse Academy, which was constructed around 1858 to 1859,” noting its timber-frame, mortise-and-tenon construction and character-defining features including full-width porches, six-over-one windows and stately columns. She also told the board the property received a state historic marker in 1978 and is rated high priority for preservation.
Board Member Kennedy moved to approve the marker and Board Member West seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Staff noted next steps include issuing the city marker and updating the city register.
