Angela Addison said she is concerned the applicant who owns a nearby Texaco has not maintained that location and questioned why the city should consider a proposal from an owner who "has not either been held accountable for making [the] gas station look presentable or aligned to the charter of the city." Tiffanie Towns told the council she supports the Crossroads master plan and said a special use permit for a gas station there "is unacceptable and unnecessary."
The gas-station request was on the agenda as Item 25-024 and was presented as a first reading only; no vote or permit was approved at the May 6 meeting. Community Development Director Mike Morton previously announced two community meetings on the project and a Planning Commission public hearing on May 15.
The minutes record public concern about compatibility with the Campbellton Crossroads vision and requests for additional public engagement; council did not take formal action on the permit at this meeting.
