Kim Black, a resident who spoke during the public‑comment period, urged the council to limit building heights in downtown redevelopment and to honor resident input gathered in surveys. She said she ran a Facebook survey that drew about 300 responses and that "90% of the 300 and some odd people that responded" favored keeping buildings the same height and not introducing modern tall buildings that clash with local aesthetics.
Black told the council she believes preserving downtown character is a once‑in‑a‑generation chance and asked staff and council to prioritize aesthetics when advancing redevelopment concepts, including the proposed parking structure. Council members thanked her for the input and noted public feedback will be among the pieces considered as concepts are refined.
