Reinbeck officials present proposed property tax levy; hearing closed with no public comment

Mayor Jamie Eiffler called a special Reinbeck City Council meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. on April 6, 2026, to open the Proposed Property Tax Levy Hearing. City Administrator Julie Wilkerson outlined the levy figures: she said the current certified rate is $12.10487 and that, "if the budget was kept the same for the next fiscal year the levy rate would be $11.87046." Wilkerson added, "But, due to employee wages and benefit increases as well as insurance increases, the levy rate will be $12.10245."
The hearing drew no written or oral comments. Councilmember Johnson moved to close the hearing; Councilmember Trepp seconded. The council recorded four ayes and the motion carried; the hearing was closed at 5:05 p.m. The council then moved to adjourn and left the meeting at 5:05 p.m. No final levy adoption vote is recorded in these minutes.
