Skokie SD 69 committee narrows priorities for 2026'031 strategic plan

The Strategic Plan Committee of Skokie SD 69 met Feb. 19 and advanced the district's 2026'031 strategic plan from broad theme development to a prioritized set of draft goals. Facilitators from West 40 led the committee in converting stakeholder feedback, district data and projected educational trends into draft strategic directions.

The committee identified four focus areas to guide the next five years: Student Achievement; Learning Environment; Resource Management; and Family & Community Engagement. The record notes that "The Committee refined draft goals and identified key strategy levers focused on the systems, structures, practices, and capacity that would guide implementation." Members discussed system-level commitments and specific levers the district will use to implement goals across schools and grade levels.

District leadership and staff who participated included Dr. Margaret Clauson, Superintendent; Dr. Megan Aseltine, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning; and Dr. Sonali Patil, Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance. West 40 facilitators Nimisha Bhatt and Julie Morris supported the prioritization process, and parents, teachers and building principals contributed cross-group dialogue that committee minutes say clarified the proposed direction.

Next procedural steps include a subsequent Strategic Plan Committee meeting scheduled for Feb. 26, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. and the regular Board of Education meeting on Mar. 17, 2026, where board review and approval are expected to appear on the agenda. The committee adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
