Volunteer poll worker defends Brazos County election procedures, urges skeptics to train

Tom Woodfin, a volunteer poll worker from Precinct 1, told the Brazos County Commissioners Court he has worked multiple busy polling locations since 2024 and that local election workers are committed to fair administration. "I take issue with anyone who imagines that the voting process in Brazos County is compromised," he said, describing oath-taking and long workdays at polling sites.
Woodfin told commissioners he had served at the College Station Training Center, precinct polling locations and early-voting boards, and said poll teams are neighbors who do not ask about — nor act on — voters' party affiliations. "Every poll worker in Brazos County is 1 of our neighbors. There is no they. It's us," he said.
The remarks came during the court's public-comment period. Commissioners thanked Woodfin and a second commenter who said they had similar poll-worker experience. The comments were offered while commissioners proceeded through a consent and regular agenda that included staffing and contract items. Woodfin urged those who doubt election processes to volunteer and be trained as a remedy, rather than assume local processes are broken.
