Board approves capital plan to request new academic space from state

The board approved submitting the Arizona School Facilities Board capital plan by the Sept. 1 deadline, requesting two elementary schools and additional academic space at Chrisman to address projected growth.
District staff presented the Arizona School Facilities Board capital plan and asked the board to approve submission by the Sept. 1 deadline to request additional academic space tied to enrollment growth. Amber Bridal explained that the capital plan documents growth projections and is the district's formal request for new-school construction dollars from the state's School's Facility Division.
"Queen Creek Unified is requesting the consideration for 2 elementary schools and junior high and high school academic space specifically at Chrisman to complete that campus to support the projected growth," Bridal said, and recommended board approval so the district could submit by the deadline. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the capital plan for submission. Staff noted ASFB reviews plans and will make recommendations to its board in December.
