A proposed timeline was presented to meet budget-planning deadlines: finalize the board article on Dec. 18; have the selectmen review it on Dec. 19; hold the public hearing during the selectmen meeting on Jan. 2; and hold the town meeting on Jan. 16. The superintendent emphasized the time sensitivity for budget preparation because neighboring districts need enrollment estimates to plan. When asked, the superintendent said the current tuition contract ends on June 30.
Board members discussed whether to vote on the article that night or wait to review wording; the superintendent recommended taking time to review the article text before voting and offered to call a special meeting if selectmen request an earlier date.
