Cayce City Council unanimously approved a resolution on July 22 adopting a Vision Zero policy designed to support the city's Comprehensive Safety Action Plan and maintain eligibility for future Safe Streets for All implementation grants.
"The city has received approximately $160,000 in grant funding to develop the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan," City Manager Michael Conley said during discussion, noting that completing the planning phase positions the city to apply for implementation funding for eligible safety improvements.
Council Member Byron Thomas made the motion to adopt the resolution and Council Member Tiffany Aull seconded; the measure passed on a unanimous roll call vote. Council members praised staff for pursuing grants and emphasized a long‑term focus on pedestrian safety, walkability and transportation infrastructure.
The resolution keeps Cayce in compliance with federal grant program expectations and preserves options for the city to apply for future implementation grants to fund capital safety projects.
