Executive Director Erin Werner told the Visit McKinney board the city’s long-planned 300-acre sports complex RFP has advanced to a selected developer and is now in the negotiation phase. "We have selected a developer and it is in kind of the negotiation stage where we hope to be able to bring something back to city council by the end of this summer," Werner said.
Werner described the project as a major sports development for community tourism, noting the RFP process was extended and staff now expect to return to council later in the season with a proposed development agreement. Board members said they look forward to reviewing the development agreement and asked staff to coordinate on community impacts and timing.
