Supervisor seeks clearer school funding presentation; categorical funding not agreed

Supervisor Dotson raised the question of categorical funding for schools and urged a clearer budget presentation that would include a balanced summary of prior-funded items, CIP requests, and a 'bin' of community needs and initiatives to evaluate funding needs. "Supervisor Dotson asked about categorical funding for the schools and Chairman Taylor said they have not agreed to that yet," the minutes record.

County Administrator Evan Vass and other members said departments submit needs each year and that staff examines requests seriously; Supervisor Dotson asked that the Board avoid discussing individual positions in the budget and instead focus on structural presentation and decision points. No change to school funding policy was adopted at the session.
