Public Works Director Cason Chambers told the Council that Wickenburg has about 473 asphalt segments—roughly 75 lane miles—with an average Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of 64.17. Chambers outlined treatment costs (reconstruction $45/yd2; mill & overlay $20/yd2; chip seal $5/yd2) and estimated $1.6 million per year would be needed to maintain the current PCI.
To address near-term needs and provide budget authority, the Council approved a cooperative purchase contract with Cactus Transport II, LLC dba Cactus Asphalt for pavement preservation and repair services not to exceed $1,200,000. The motion passed 5–0.
