Parks & Recreation reports strong Apex start, pool openings and special events; "goats are returning"

Amy Kinkade, director of Parks & Recreation, told the board that Apex had a strong weekend opening: "Apex opened the weekend very strongly. They sold 202 memberships, 707 passes," she said, and noted revenue increases compared with the prior year. She also reported that the Gilda pool fence replacement was completing in time for opening and that North Apex remains a priority.
Kinkade previewed Juneteenth and Red, White and Boom 4th of July plans and said the department will introduce a drone element to the fireworks show. In a lighter moment she warned the board that "the goats are returning," describing a vegetation-management program that will run June 1–about June 20 across several park sites. Board members congratulated parks staff for the strong opening and program planning.
