Board authorizes MOU with Church of the Good Shepherd to plow and serve as emergency shelter

Trustees approved a memorandum of understanding allowing the Church of the Good Shepherd to serve as an emergency shelter for Heatley; the village will plow behind the church only after Green Island locations and will not move parked vehicles blocking plows.
The Green Island Village Board authorized the mayor to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Church of the Good Shepherd that formalizes plowing arrangements and the church’s role as an emergency shelter. Board members said the church has agreed to serve as an emergency shelter for Heatley and that plowing behind the church will occur only after village priorities in Green Island are complete.
"They have agreed to, offer the church as, an emergency shelter, which that that it is the emergency shelter for Heatley right now," the Chair said while introducing the item. The board clarified the village will not be responsible for moving cars that block plow access; if cars are not moved the village cannot plow around them.
A trustee moved the authorization, a second was recorded and the motion carried.
